“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”
We have been given an awesome responsibility for the children entrusted to our care, and we don’t take that lightly. We believe it is important to teach the Word of God through basic Biblical Truths to young children. We believe as teachers, parents and caregivers we are to nurture these little ones, diligently planting the seeds of faith in their hearts. We believe if we are faithful to do this then God through His Word will be faithful to develop His children in the wisdom and knowledge of God and His ways!
Our day includes a Bible lesson, including songs, Bible stories, scripture verses and prayer. Teachers also greet the children and interact with them in a nurturing Christian way. There are many opportunities throughout the day for life application lessons from a faith perspective that help the children see Jesus.
In our approach to discipline at Bonsack Baptist WEEC, we follow the Positive Behavior Model. When disrupting classroom situations occur, redirecting the child is first attempted. A limited “age appropriate ” time out may be used for the child to re-think his/her behavior if necessary. If appropriate the child will be given choices to enable and encourage them to think through what they should do. The teacher is actively involved in this process as it is a very teachable time. If these behavior modifications are not successful, a conference with the teachers and parents will be called to discuss positive methods, which can be used at home and school to promote more appropriate behavior. No physical punishment is allowed at the Center.
Enriched Classroom Environment is so important!
Teachers at Bonsack WEEC choose resources weekly from our resource room to use in their classrooms. The resource room has seasonal and themed materials, books, puppets, puzzles, paints and manipulatives as well as a multitude of hands-on items that enhance the curriculum and help the children get the most from our interactive program.
